2022 Youth Basic Skills Camp

Who: Youth wrestlers ages 6-12 with 0-2 years of experience

This camp is designed for both beginners and younger wrestlers with a couple seasons under their belt who need to work on the basics. Not only will this camp teach wrestling technique, it will also develop basic athleticism and wrestling positional skills. This camp will make a visible difference in the following:
  • Stance, movement and footwork
  • Head and hip position on basic takedowns
  • Riding & floating on top, improved pinning position
  • Back pressure and hand control on bottom
  • Developing a love of the sport & desire to improve
Format
  • Skills & drills focused. Not just moves. (i.e level changing, knee sliding, hip heisting, bounding & driving off feet, shuffling feet, etc.)
  • Inspiration - identifying role models, setting goals
  • Competitions
  • Fun games & drills that develop athleticism and balance
Sample Day
  • 9:00 - Session 1 - Foundational Skills or Technique Drills
  • 10:40 - Live wrestling/Live Drills
  • 11:00 - Lunch
  • 11:45 - Wrestling Role models/Inspirational Videos
  • 12:00 - Wrestling/athleticism development games
  • 12:30 - Technique Session 2
  • 1:00 - Live wrestling (team duals) or athletic competitions
  • 2:00 - End
What to Bring: Lunch, wrestling shoes, headgear, two t-shirts, athletic shorts & a bottle of water or sports drink

Schedule: Camp will run 9am - 2pm.
